With the debut of Sport and Gen 5 Wear OS smartwatches, Fossil brought “Smart Battery” modes to its latest smartwatches, including Gen 4 and Sport. Exclusive to Fossil smartwatches only, the proprietary battery saving modes gives you 4 different settings that you can chose from.
By default, watches are set to Daily Mode, which is more or less your typical Wear OS experience.
The Time-Only mode, essentially turns your smartwatch into a dumb watch, and it activates immediately when your battery level gets very low. Buy manually turning it on, it turns off Wear OS and leaving you with just the time. This can make your watch last days or weeks if you have a newer Snapdragon Wear 3100 version.
In the Extended Mode, you can extend your battery life by multiple days by turning off some features that Fossil considers nonessential. This means the always-on display, speaker, Wi-Fi, touch/tile to wake, and “OK Google” detection are all off while Location and NFC are also set to on demand. An automatic schedule turns off Bluetooth when you are less likely to be using the watch, from evening to early morning.
If you would like certain features on or off, you can chose Custom Mode, where you have more control over the settings.
