Comic-cons.xyz Exclusive is excited to feature a famous Canadian cosplayer, Riki “Riddle” Lecotey. Not only is she one of the most popular cosplayers on the planet, she has been interviewed by Marvel Live and has her own wikipedia page. Now that’s big time! So Riki…
What first got you interested in cosplay?
I started cosplay because it was my way of showing my love for a certain fandom and also getting to experience dressing in cool outfits. When I first got into cosplay I didn’t know what it was, there was no one in my rural town who did it and I’d never seen it anywhere online.
How many comic/anime conventions do you attend a year?
I try to limit it to no more then 2 a month, though there was one year I did close to 35 cons a year. I’m always grateful to get invitations but also like to be home to work on costumes.
What are the most important things to have with you when cosplaying at a convention?
A repair kit, a comfortable pair of shoes, your phone/camera, cash and a buddy.
Favorite celebrity you’ve rubbed arms with at a convention?
I will never forget how great Christy Carlson Romano was to meet in person. I met her in Kim Possible and she came over to say hi and tell me how great I looked!
Why do you do what you do?
I love when the costume is done to get a great picture that showcases the time I put into making the costume that I can share with people online.
