First, let’s get the nomenclature down. When we say Echo Show 1, we mean Echo Show 1st generation which was just Echo Show. Then the 2nd generation came out with the same model name, hence adding 2 so that we can differentiate. Well, thanks to “consistent” model naming, Amazon came out with Echo Show 5 to indicate that the screen size is only 5 inches, and of course that puts a damper on 1 vs 2. So now we have 2 vs 5? Anyway, now you know and knowing is half of the battle.
Which Amazon Echo Show is better for you? Echo Show 5 is a lot more compact, perfect for bedroom use or if you don’t have a lot of space. It has a camera shutter for privacy concerns. However, you want to use Show for video watching or calling, then you should get the Show 2 as it has a much better camera and screen resolution. If you’re on a budget, then either get the Show 5 or you can still find Show 1 for under $100. All the Echo Shows come with Alexa integration, same as any of the Echo devices but with a screen. See below for specs that matter.
