Misfit Vapor X is a very thin and light smartwatch that operates on Wear OS. It’s probably a Fossil Sport but with a nicer aluminum case as Misfit is owned by Fossil. Using the latest Snapdragon 3100 chipset, Vapor X provides you with longer battery life and better performance.
With a total weight of just 43 grams and a very sporty looking 20mm interchangeable silicone band, it feels quite comfortable to wear all day long. Intended for the younger hip crowd, the watch feels good and looks great. You can choose from 5 different case options, each with its own color watch band.
Performance is what you’d expect from a Wear OS watch. Battery can easily last you 2 days under moderate usage. It uses about 3% battery per hour in ambient mode, a much better improvement over Snapdragon 2100 watches, considering it’s smaller battery size. In default Wear OS battery saver mode, it boots into time only mode and shuts off Wear OS, giving you weeks of battery life as a regular watch. While useful when the battery runs low, it also stops tracking your steps and heart rate activity. Something to keep in mind if you want to use it to save battery. To come out of the battery saver mode, you need to put it on a charger or press and hold the middle crown for 7-10 seconds.
Once your Vapor X installs the latest update, battery life is not only enhanced by Fossil’s “Smart Battery” modes, but gives you the option to customize the features how you like it which is a way better execution than the out of box Wear OS battery saver option. You can easily go 1 day under normal usage with ambient mode on during the day. By turning bluetooth off at night which you can set automatically via the smart battery options and have ambient mode off, it only uses about 1% per hour even with steps and heart rate tracking turned on. This will give you 2+ days of battery life easily.
Vapor X does come with its own set of watchfaces only available to Misfit smartwatches. Of course you can always add your own watchface if you prefer something else. Personally, Misfit watchfaces are fantastic, especially Vapor X and Command Analog.
One more annoyance is that the charger doesn’t stick to the bottom of the watch very well, causing the watch to not charge properly quite a bit. You really have to be very careful when putting the watch on the charger and not move it once it’s seated.
