Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Bluetooth Headphones Review

The Skullcandy Crusher Wireless headphones set is hard to beat. This wireless release of the the Crusher lineup can be used with bluetooth connection or wired. Released in late 2016, it was originally priced at $199. It certainly was not cheap but you can find it for under $100 now.

One of the first things you’ll notice is how good it looks. Combining high quality sleek matte black plastic parts with metal band, the headphones feels really nice and sturdy. It does not feel cheap at all.

Its weight is surprisingly light even though it carries a ridiculously long 40-hour battery life for wireless listening. The ear cups are very comfortable to wear thanks to its soft padding. Wearing it for a few hours at a time is no problem at all, depending on your head shape. Charge time is a little over 2 hours if the battery is fully depleted. If you’re only using it few hours a week, then around 15 minutes of charging is all you need to get back to battery life. The only downside to its bluetooth capabilities is that it doesn’t support Hi-Res audio codecs like AAC, AptX, Aptx HD or LDAC. While acceptable, audiophiles will need to look elsewhere.

On the right ear cup, you can find the volume up and volume down buttons, as well as a center multi-use button. On the left ear cup, you can find the bass boost slider, as well as a microUSB charging port and a 3.5mm connection port. The buttons are quite large, which makes them easy to find and use. The volume buttons are shaped like what they stand for, which makes it ultra-easy to to find the right one.

How about the sound? This is where the Skullcandy Crusher Wireless really shines. With its advertised Stereo Haptic Bass, you can get booming bass sound in these headphones. It’s like a subwoofer has been implanted into your brain. And if bass is not your thing depending on the music your listening to, you can dial it back by lowering the bass slider to the zero position. Without the bass boost, the headphones is well tuned. The mid-range sounds pretty good, with a warm and present low-mids, and a high-mids that seems to dip slightly.

Accessories include a carry bag, microUSB cable, and a 3.5mm aux cable.
