If you’re on a tight budget or are looking for inexpensive surround speakers, look no further than the Polk T15 bookshelf speakers. For less than $100 a pair, you get decent speaker audio can either compliment your main speaker setup or act as main bookshelf speakers for music listening.
Weighing at about 8 lbs, these speakers are light and small enough to be placed anywhere. You can even wall mount them as it comes with a keyhole hangar hole. The front of the speakers look very modern and the black wood-grain texture is very appealing.
Sound wise, there isn’t a lot of bass as you would expect from bookshelf speakers. A subwoofer is recommended for any bookshelf speaker setup. There is one important factor to know when placing these speakers. These are not designed for nearfield monitoring or desktop use. They are designed to be above or below your listening height, meaning they should placed above or below your ears when sitting down. Polk especially designed them this way as it’s rare that bookshelf or surround speakers are placed exactly at your listening height. Using these as your computer speakers probably won’t sound great.
At close to max volume, there is no distortion which is great for a speaker this inexpensive. While you may not get audiophile sound from the Polk T15 speakers, they do punch above their weight and you can’t argue with a set of quality small bookshelf speakers for less than $100.
